Industrial Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Offshore Industrial Carpenter with experience in marine environments to maintain, repair, and construct furniture and equipment onboard offshore vessels. This role is integral to ensuring the functionality and aesthetic upkeep of living quarters, recreational areas, and workspaces, providing a comfortable and efficient environment for crew members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Furniture Repair and Maintenance:
    – Repair or replace furniture in the Clinic, Cinema/Recreation areas, and Sauna room
    – Perform maintenance and repairs on all furniture items in ships living quarters, including offices, recreational areas, and mess halls.

  • Carpentry Construction and Installation:
    – Construct, install, or refurbish furniture, cabinetry, and fixtures as needed for living quarters and common areas.
    – Assemble, disassemble, and modify furniture and wooden structures based on operational requirements.

  • Preventive Maintenance:
    – Conduct regular inspections of furniture, fixtures, and wooden components to identify and address wear, damage, or potential hazards.
    – Maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and materials required for carpentry-related maintenance tasks.

  • Aesthetic and Structural Upkeep:
    – Perform sanding, varnishing, or painting of wooden furniture to ensure durability and visual appeal.
    – Ensure all carpentry work complies with safety and structural integrity standards.

  • Collaboration and Reporting:
    – Work closely with other maintenance team members to support overall operational efficiency.
    – Prepare and submit maintenance logs and activity reports to the Maintenance Department.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education: Diploma or certification in Carpentry, Joinery, or a related field.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as an industrial carpenter, preferably in offshore or marine environments.

  • Certifications:
    – Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) certification.
    – Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) training or equivalent.

  • Proficiency in operating carpentry tools and equipment.

  • Experience with furniture repair, replacement, and construction.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and design plans.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of offshore safety protocols and emergency response procedures.

  • Excellent woodworking and repair skills with attention to detail.

  • Problem-solving and organisational skills to manage multiple maintenance tasks.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities in a demanding offshore environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to work on rotational schedules (e.g., 28 days on/28 days off).

  • Valid offshore medical certificate (OGUK or equivalent).

  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally.

  • Must be proficient in English.
